SECOND TRIMESTER!!! 14 weeks down!

I am now officially in the second trimester of pregnancy and about a third of the way done (well, Tank, YOU'RE about a third of the way done cooking)! I am starting to feel more energy and less nausea, which is nice for me and for Brian, who celebrated by feeding us and baking.
A little bit of baby bump...
Chocolate- and peanut-butter-chip cookies? Yes please!

B also restarted our Saturday morning pancake tradition - yum!
Our back-ordered West Elm rug, an Xmas gift from my parents, finally arrived and looks great!

Thirteen weeks down!

Not much else to report after our big announcement this week - still cold, and I'm still tired. But my belly is definitely growing!
I read that the shape of my belly is called a "B belly" - makes sense. I'm hoping it rounds out in a cute way as the weeks and months go by!

We are now publicly pregnant...

Tank, you're no longer our family's little secret! Today we went to the Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists to get an NT scan (they look at the fluid at the back of baby's neck; thick fluid can be a marker for Down Syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities) and get blood drawn for the Panorama genetic screening.

It's amazing how in a few short weeks you've gone from an adorable wiggly gummy bear to an adorable wiggly baby! Your fluid measurements, nasal bone (another indicator of possible problems), and overall size were great, and while we won't get the genetic results back for several weeks, your dad wanted to share our news with the whole world - via Facebook. We got so many positive comments and congratulations - the world is excited that you're joining us!

Your dad and I are terrible at keeping secrets, so we're relieved to be able to have our big news out in the open.

The printed image is kind of blurry, but in person we heard and saw your heartbeat again and saw you dancing around in there!

Twelve weeks down!

I'm not sure if my belly is noticeable to anyone else yet, but Brian and I think it's getting a little bigger for real (not just junk food bloat!)...

Tank's first IU game - she is a good luck charm!

Well, Tank, your Dad was a HUGE sport and bought us tickets to the IU-Wisconsin game tonight at Assembly Hall - his first IU game (since he's, yuck, a Purdue fan) and my first at Assembly Hall since I graduated in 1998. Our seats were great - in the bleachers behind one of the baskets - and IU beat undefeated, #3 ranked Wisconsin!
The view from our seats (when I went to IU we didn't have that giant scoreboard)

Under SOME of the championship banners in Assembly Hall.
"The best timeout in college basketball" - THE FLAAAAAGS! Live it, learn it, love it, Tank.
The student section stormed the court after the big win

Eleven weeks down! BRRR!

Tank, this week we've been dealing with freaky weather (at least by Indianapolis standards) - they're calling this extreme cold snap a "polar vortex" with overnight lows at -10 or less. Our furnace is cranking away, and we're lighting fires and staying cozy, but I have no motivation to leave the house and (maybe?) a good excuse to lay on the couch.
Apparently the polar vortex sucks away my will to brush my hair.

Sox finally got brave enough (and/or cold enough) to creep up to the fireplace once the flames died out.

Ten weeks down - happy New Year!

Ten weeks down, thirty(ish) to go... I am feeling run down and a bit nauseated in the morning, but most days it's not too bad. HOWEVER... we rang in a quiet New Year's Eve at home with chocolate ice cream, which came back up all over the bathroom floor a few minutes before midnight. Happy 2014, Tank! Your dad was amazing - he got a cool washcloth for my forehead, held my hair back, and didn't bat an eye at my sickness. He's going to be great with you, too.
New Year's Day 2014 - my belly is looking a little bigger, but it's more bloat than baby at this point!

Even before we found out about the pregnancy, we had a lower-cost, closer-to-home vacation in mind for this year after last year's trips to the Smokies (twice), Savannah, and Las Vegas/Zion National Park (twice). We're trying to decide between a hiking vacation in the Red River Gorge area and a more varied trip around Mammoth Cave and other central Kentucky sites. Goal is April/May, end of second trimester or beginning of third, since I am not sure how tired/big I'll be after that point!
